About Tahleesis Collection
All of our pieces are crafted from exquisite baby alpaca wool using organic processes, reflecting our unwavering commitment to sustainability and quality. We choose baby alpaca for its exceptional softness, fineness, and hypoallergenic properties, sourced from the neck, chest, and back of the alpaca. This luxurious fiber is only harvested during the spring and summer months, making it one of the rarest materials in the world, as only a small percentage is fine enough to be classified as baby alpaca. The baby alpaca fibers undergo a careful washing process with a natural root that acts as a gentle soap, ensuring their purity and softness.
Our Mission
Our dyeing methods are completely organic and free from harmful chemicals, allowing us to create beautiful, vibrant colors. For our rich reds and violets, we utilize a natural insect called cochineal, while our greens are derived from a variety of plants. The blues are crafted from a combination of minerals and select plant sources, showcasing a stunning spectrum of hues. Additionally, our yellows are predominantly plant-based, and we achieve vibrant oranges by adding salt to the cochineal dye, resulting in depth and richness.
The coloring process is just the beginning of our intricate craftsmanship. Once the colors are set, we employ a manual loom equipped with 300 needles to create our signature bubble cloud-like shawls and scarves. To achieve the desired bubble effect, we carefully utilize about 130 needles with varying weights, adding a unique texture and dimension to each piece.
After weaving, every item is meticulously finished in a crochet style to secure any loose ends. We then wash and iron the final products one last time, ensuring they are flawless and ready for you. Our dedication to artistry and sustainability shines through in every step of this intricate process, resulting in pieces that are not only beautiful but also meaningful, celebrating the skill and artistry behind each creation.
